Mary Sue Rhoads, RN, MSN, came to work for Regional Cardiology
Consultants in September of 1998. Mrs. Rhoads is well versed in many
aspects of nursing including acute/critical care, cardiology, and
neonatal care. She completed her RN interning program in University
of Alabama Hospitals during 1978 and 1979. Following her internship,
Mrs. Rhoads was a nurse at the Magnolia Regional Health Center in
Mississippi from 1979 until 1996. Her position was quickly elevated
as she went from staff nurse in the Labor/Delivery Unit, to being
staff nurse in the critical care unit, and then becoming the unit's
manager. There she oversaw the intensive care unit which dealt
primarily with cardiac, pulmonary, and some general medical
patients. While there she also attained her Bachelor of Science in
Nursing from the University of Mississippi for Women and then went
on to receive her Master of Science in Nursing from the University
of Alabama.
Leaving her position there, Mrs. Rhoads went on to become certified
as an Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and was employed by a
cardiology practice during 1996. She oversaw patient testing,
discharging, and patient evaluations. Subsequently, Mrs. Rhoads has
been employed at various family clinics such as Hickory Flat Family
Clinic and Blue Mountain Family Clinic. She has also held positions
in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit and Surgical Intensive
Care Unit of Northeast Mississippi Medical Center. Mrs. Rhoads has
participated in several research programs and has taught courses in
coronary care. She is a member of the American Association of
Critical-Care Nurses and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
