Bone Flow

The purpose of the bone flow study is to examine the vascularity of the femoral head to aid in the diagnosis of conditions such as aseptic necrosis and Legg-Perthes disease. It is also useful to differentiate between osteomyelitis and cellulitis.

The test begins with an initial injection of an Isotope. After the injection, images are obtained for 5-10 minutes. After the initial imaging, the patient will wait approximately 2-2 1/2 hours before the remaining images are performed. Imaging time is approximately 45-60 minutes.
