Lung Scan





The ventilation/pefusion lung scan is very helpful in detecting and evaluating pulmonary emboli, obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchogenic cancer, or unexplained chest pain. The scan takes about one hour. The patient will breath in a medicine called DTPA while images are obtained. Next, the isotope MAA will be given through injection. Actual imaging time is approximately 20-30 minutes.
