Stress MUGA

The Stress MUGA test is a good indicator of coronary artery disease. The patient is not to eat approximately four hours prior to the study. Some of the patient's blood is drawn, mixed with UTRBC kit and 99 mtc. and then reintroduced into the patient's body via IV. After the isotope is injected, images are taken in three views for about 15 minutes. The patient is then stressed with IV Dobutamine approximately 5 minutes. The patient will rest until the heart rate returns to near normal. Another five minutes of images are then made.
